Is it ok to experience this?

I am a female in case it matters. At random times of the month I start to become more aware of my mental health. Right now I am like this. Today I felt this voice in my head seemingly take control of my body and I felt possessed for a good 15 minutes. My thoughts felt foreign and my right arm felt lifeless. Also I have had two previous experiences where I was convinced that there was a murderer in my house and I was terrified and would not leave my closet. I don't know if any of this is normal and I don't know what to do.

Is It OK To?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Sounds like beginning stages of schizophrenia. Go to a doctor to make sure what you have isn't something that can worsen if untreated.

  • Um, I don't think that's normal, but where's the poll?

  • End of the month, probably more menstrual health then mental.

I know lots of women that go mental monthly!

      • *went anonymous the first time, now not lol*

        Anyways,
Having a cycle only a couple times a year (for a human) isn't normal.

Try getting some bloodwork done, if you're under 45 or so, I'd bet 2-to-1 you have PCOS, poly cystic ovarian syndrome.

  • It sounds like you have all the good drugs!!! Just share them because overdose is always a problem!!

  • GO TO THE DOCTOR. Get tested for a mental illness.

  • I recommend talking to your doctor. Your mind is likely malfunctioning due to schizophrenia or something else similar. Don’t know about the “lack of control” part though.

  • Sounds like severe anxiety. Anxiety attacks can limit blood flow to theveryone brain, making one feel disassociated with their body. The murderer thing could be anxiety, paranoia, or intrusive thoughts due to ocd. Or a combination of those things. It's not technally normal, but it's explainable and treatable.

    • Not clowning or anything but must say - that is a slightly bizarre suggestion.
The practical thing to do would be to get one at Red Lobster. Oh my gyod, the food there is righteous!

      • I was thinking steal one from a five star restaurant and then grow it into a mega lobster, but yeah sure that’d work.

    • Is there anything else that happens to you? Have you been diagnosed with anything?

      • no im just paranoid and noticed the strength of certain mental issues fluctuating. idk what you mean by feeling possessed, i dont believe in that kinda stuff. sounds like you could be schizotypal or something.

        • I don't mean possessed in a devil/god kinda way because I don't believe in that stuff either. I just don't know how to describe the feeling as if you are not yourself and your behavior is very eccentric at the time. I'll look into schizotypal. Thanks for the insight!

          • Yeah it;s interesting stuff, but of course seek professional help if you feel it's a problem

  • It sounds like psychosis, try antipsychotics with benzos.
