Is it ok to have an urge to remain jobless lifelong?

Every one has a goal in life say doctor, engineer, civil servant, lawer etc. But I want to do NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. I do not want to contribute to society. I simply want to spend the years I have got, just like that, and then leave the world (death). I don't want to DO something.

Is It OK To?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Not noble, would make you a selfish leech, but you let me know if you figure out a way to make that work.

  • You do you bud. You do realize after being unemployed for a while it actually causes a lot of work, so in return you actually work. Example: no job, no money so when ya car breaks down you need to fix it yourself, when ya got no money for petrol you walk which causes hours longer, you may have to start growing your own food, if you have children no daycare like the "career" people, you gotta bring your own kids up, no more expensive nbn to chat on IIN, ya gonna have to walk ya ass up to the closest hotspot at some sleezy takeaway stroke joint... So on so on. Unless ya one of them lucky son bitches that is just a burden to there parents and gets to mooch of them free.

If ya smart enough I suggest you live of the grid! If you can work for a year or too and save enough for some property, build a cabin/mini home and live off solar power and chicken eggs. I'm looking into it! I wanna live off the grid and just work for me!

Ps.. I accidentally clicked its not normal, but it is normal to not wanna work!! Fuck I wanna sit at the beach all day drinking beer!

    • We're moving towards this in my house - produce loads of our food. We have solar but not enough to be self sufficient and there's no running water on our land so we still need water from the grid. We're getting there though... I think when the kids are older we might move even more rural and just go full Good Life.

      • Sounds good.. You have much rain there? Enough for rain water tanks? I would love to be fully of the grid.

        • I'm up north so it's very changeable. There's no rain for 6 months and then suddenly there's a flood. So I'm not sure how well it would work. The ideal would be to have a creek running through the property but usually they are only seasonal too, so I don't think it would be a sustainable solution.

Water is pretty cheap though so I don't mind. And we use a fuckload of it because of all the stuff we grow and feed.

When the apocalypse comes I'll just have to steal water from others haha

    • Thats a great way to explain it. My boss always says "These assholes here work harder trying to not work than work". I never understood that until you broke it down.

        • Well they will decide to take bathroom breaks when work comes, go to another place, hide, go get something out of the car. If theyre just standing there not working they can get disciplined that's why they dodge

      • Oh shit I apologize my friend. I thought this was a different post........... :)

  • It's not normal. You'd have to find someone that makes a crapton of money to support you. After a while they'd probably see you as a leech and want nothing to do with you.

  • Pretty damn normal, not sure what's up with these comments. Having that urge is definitely normal. People complain about work all the fucking time, it's not something that's to be enjoyed. Actually being jobless for life on the other hand, is not normal.

  • You guys, no need to be a dick. I'm guessing that OP is probably young, and at that stage in their life when everyone is asking them what they want to do with their future. I remember just a few years ago my reaction to that too was "fuck off, I don't WANT to do ANYTHING, you're MAKING me do all this". But now, with the wisdom granted to me by my ripe old age of 25, I'll say that not having a greater ambition than just wanting just to be comfortable is totally fine, and probably the most realistic option for most of us.

Realistically speaking, after a certain point in life... you either gotta work for a salary, or have some entrepreneurial spirit, and either work to become self-sufficient (grow your own food, get solar panels all over your roof, move away from society, etc?), or invent something/write a book/produce a franchise that has you all set with money for the rest of your life, which is the least likely scenario. But to not want to be a cog in a machine? Totally normal.

  • Jobs are stupid and the economy only benefits the rich. The entire construct of society is to generate additional wealth for the wealthy and prevent the poor from stealing it back. Obedience isn't a virtue, fuck a 9 to 5

  • I retired early. Real early. The work was fun, but people wrecked the fun. Now I'm a recluse. I stay away from people because they want my money. People are what makes life miserable. Life is best enjoyed with a good set of tools, a fast computer on the Internet, and no reliance on anyone.

  • basically i would love to be able to sit back watch tv, swim and play around and hang out with friends. sadly, i am going to need money to do these things. but it should not really be that way. people should be able to enjoy life without money. it is just made up anyway

  • You won't have self respect if you don't accomplish things.

  • Another way of phrasing that question is:
“Is it ok to have an urge to be a worthless parasite to society?”

  • All millenials are like that.
