Is it ok to want to get rid of a pet

I have had cats and dogs my whole life. I am 35 years old. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. My cats are 6 years old. I cant stand them anymore. They drive me crazy they follow me around the house everywhere meowing whining I cant take it. I dream of just packing them up and dropping them off somewhere. I feel guilty but I am losing it. Every meow i twitch. They trip me every day running around my legs. I just want them gone, but cant bring myself to it. Anyone else ever feel this way?

Is It OK To?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

    • Why do you think this is fake copper? Do you own animals. Sometimes they always get under foot just like you do.

      • Do you own animals or have even experienced a dog? At least cats don't slobber all over you, shit openly in your backyard and leave it there, jump all over you and knock you over, and chew everything in sight. Animals can be annoying and frustrating, and sometimes you might feel like getting rid of it, but does that mean you should only because the animal might inconvenience you for a few minutes a day? If someone can't handle an animal being an animal and expect it to act robotic and perfect in every way they shouldn't be owning an animal in the first place.

        • I said the same thing. But as humans we have a tolerance and if they can't handle the animal, find a nice home for it. I know me and Rosie would do anything possible to make a home for it.

        • I'm not sure what you saying. What I said was if o.p is dead set against their pets be humane about it. I missed your point sorry???

      • Wtf is fake copper? No, I don't own animals, because I don't want to. I have lived with people who own animals and taken care of both dogs and cats.
Why would you suddenly after 6 years get annoyed by a pet and have the nerve to post about it? Throwing away pets because you're annoyed by them is a major faux-pas. It's inexcusable unless you had a mental breakdown or something, which obviously didn't happen because dogs take way more work than cats.
Watch where the hell your fatass is stepping, it's not that hard to avoid them.

  • Maybe there's something wrong with you?

  • Sorry to say it but they're not objects, you took on the responsibility of looking after them so you can't just drop them off somewhere. You at least have to find them a trustworthy owner if you really can't care for them anymore.

  • Yes please save your soul and kindly rehome them

  • I really like cats, but I understand that you may be fed up, and I think that’s normal

  • Did you write this post just to get RoseIsabella's attention?

For God's sake, just be a big boy and send her a message. She's probably not interested in you but she'd at least respect you more.

  • As an animal lover and friend of lots of pets I love that they follow me around and love on me. That being said, I can understand how it could get under your skin. It doesn't make you a bad person.

What would make you a bad person would be if you chose to just dump the animal off.

Find it a nice home with someone that will love, care for and appreciate it.

Maybe contact RoaeIssa to take it off your hands or someone with, I dunno a farm.😊

Your cat is just loving on you. I hope you were just frustrated and realize you can't live without your furry pal, but it not please do the right thing.

    • Hey man you never told us where the farm is, I have a goat that I'd like to get rid of because it's not meaty enough for my tastes. could you give me the address and I will personally hand deliver it to your front door, and you can see which one of us gets "under foot" as you're on your hands and knees to kiss my boots? 😊

        • Number one, can't understand you drunk ass. Numero 2, You're the one who offered. maybe stop acting like a tough guy online if you can't handle the backlash. I've dealt with you emotionally manipulative creeps plenty of times before, so your pity partying doesn't work here.

    • I wanted to add. I assume you have a vet. Please tell them what is going on. They will 100% be able to rehome the cat if that's what you are dead set on.

I am signed up with my vets to take temporary custody of abandoned animals. They haven't ever taken me up on it but it's something many of us do.

  • I often dream of sending my neighbor's dogs to a vivisection lab, does that count?

  • Please do not dump or abandon your animals for people like me to then have to rescue. This is why I have four cats instead of two. Yes it's normal that they annoy you. You need to find them a good home if you don't want them.

  • Take them to the local Chinese restaurant. They will take them off your hands.

  • I understand completely. Take them to an animal shelter. There are crazy animal lovers on here who can't grasp how not everyone needs pets to fill the empty voids in their lives. Sometimes we make a mistake buying a pet and realise they are not a fit for our lifestyle or temperament. That's ok and normal.

  • You could put them in a room and close the door if you need some time out.

  • I only have one cat, but I wish I had the money, and energy to have as many animals as you do! My Siamese cat follows me all over the house, and he talks to me all the time. I consider my cat an enormous blessing from God. It's an honor for me to feed him, and clean his box. Mere humans are not worthy of the awesomeness that is Felis catus!

  • Drop them of at the animal shelter.
