Is it okay to like lock-picking as a hobby?

I really love lock picking (it's legal in your own house), but my friends say it's too weird and I'm being stupid and are generally always putting me down for stuff like this and I was just wondering about the public opinion.

Is It OK To?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Your friends won't be calling you weird or stupid when they have locked themselves out and they come calling asking you to break in their house for them. Why not look into becoming a professional locksmith.

  • Get good with bump keys, then get a job with an automobile lockout service.

  • You’re mechanically inclined. It’s a good profession too, as a licensed locksmith, not an ahole burglar.

  • As long as you don't become a thief. There are legal jobs where you can put your skills to use. Locksmith comes to mind

  • As long as it's not in preparation for becoming a thief.

  • As long as you're doing it to try to become a good locksmith, and not a burgler.

  • As long as it's just a hobby I don't see the problem. Beats playing video games for hours on end. Plus, it could come in really handy some day.
